Samsung have since apologised for the internal error
Smartphone maker Samsung, who have recently released their flagship range of S20 devices, including the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+ and Galaxy S20 Ultra, have said sorry for an error that happened this morning. (Thursday 20 February 2020)
A notification message was sent out to thousands of devices overnight via the pre-installed Find My Phone application.
The notification simply said "1 1" and was sent via the Find My Phone app in error. Nothing happened when the notification was tapped.
Samsung have confirmed to users that no devices have been hacked.
The notification appeared on Samsung phones running Android Oreo or newer and this included the Galaxy S range, Note range and the brand new Z Flip folding smartphone.
In a reply to a user on Twitter, Samsung said:
"This notification was confirmed as a message sent unintentionally during internal testing and there is no effect on your device. Samsung apologises for any inconvenience this may have caused to our customers and will work to prevent similar cases from occurring in the future."
