Latest Samsung Galaxy S10 software update locks you out of your phone

If you own a Samsung Galaxy S10, you'll want to read this

If you own a Samsung Galaxy S10, S10+, S10e or S10 5G, you'll want to read this. Various reports and posts have said the latest software update that gets pushed out to your flagship Samsung phone will lock you out of it.

At the moment, it seems to be affected users who are located in the USA, as the update hasn't hit devices in the UK yet. We're sure it's only a matter of time until it will, though. Especially those phones that are unlocked to any network, meaning you don't have to wait for your provider to push it out to your phone.

What happens?

Once the update is installed and downloaded onto your smartphone, your device will restart, which is normal after the update has completed.

If you type in your PIN, password or pattern, the phone won't unlock, even though the correct PIN, pattern or password is entered. This has been posted on Samsung forums in the US and seems to be affecting the Verizon network, including AT&T. However, they are not alone as the issue is reported to be far more wide spread too, according to posts on blogging site Reddit.

Taking a look at the official Samsung Support website in the US, the only way to resolve this issue is to completely factory reset your Samsung phone. This is the solution from the Samsung customer support staff members.

Even if your phone has been setup with no type of security and you just 'swipe to unlock', you'll be blocked out of your phone.

We hope this is not the case for when the software update gets rolled out to the UK market, as factory resetting your device is always a horrible experience if you can avoid it, as everything will need to be logged into and installed again.
