You'll have to agree to the new terms before or on June 10 if you want to continue using WhatsApp
As you know from recent weeks and months, the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) has come into play and you will have been getting emails and messages from services you have signed up to in the past, asking if you still want communications with them and if you still want your inbox to be full of emails.
What is the GDPR? It is a regulation in EU law on data protection and privacy for all individuals within the European Union. It also addresses the export of personal data outside the EU.
As well as opting back into the emails you still want, it has been a great time to clear oyt your inbox and get rid of all that 'junk' email.
It's not just emails that we have had to deal with, though. We have (those in the EU) have had to accept new terms and conditions and, terms of services and review privacy policy notices if we want to continue using services who use information and data from us.
All popular social networking sites have updated their terms and we have had to read and accept before we can carry on using them. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat, for example. Other companies who have data about us as well: for example, if you signed up to get emails from GoPro, AOL Newsletter, and so on.
Now, you have until June 10 to agree and accept the new terms of Facebook owned messaging app: WhatsApp.
Like any of the terms we have had to agree to in the last weeks and months, WhatsApp's have updated there one to "reflect new features and comply with new European Union data protection laws".
It provides information on "how we [WhatsApp] collect, use and share your information to provide WhatsApp and how we work with our parent company, Facebook".
On the next few pages after clicking the 'Next' button, you have to confirm that you are at least 16 years old, by tapping a tick box and read though some important points.
After reading and clicking accept, you're all done and can continue to use WhatsApp.
