HOW TO: Stay in a WhatsApp group but mute the chat

WhatsApp

WhatApp groups are great for keeping in touch with friends and family, but sometimes, we all want to press that mute button.

You may or may not know that you can mute a WhatsApp chat, even if you're only having a two way conversation (yourself and a friend). Muting a chat is a great way to remain in a group, because the best part is, you don't have to leave the group.

Read on to find out how to mute a chat.

How To: Mute a chat

Once you know how, it's easy to do.

First, select a chat. This can be a group conversation, or just a normal two way chat.

Now, in the top right hand corner of the screen, press the 3 dots "..."

A drop-down menu will now appear, tap the "Mute" option.

From there, you have a few options. You can mute the chat for 8 Hours, 1 Week, or, if you really want to: 1 Year!

There's also an option to Show Notifications. You can un-tick this option if you want to, and enable it again when you want to.See the screenshot below:

Just because you have now muted the chat, it doesn't mean you cannot go back into the chat and message your friends and family.

You can un-mute the chat anytime you like. The people or person in the group won't even know that you've muted the chat.
